I have the stainless model. That part is good.
In fact it's excellent and pretty easy to clean.
I have had problems with the motor twice, but
they will stand behind and send you a repaired
or new one, after sending the old one in. So
you may be without it occasionally, frustratingly
so. Might be good to have a spare on hand. Can't
compare it to any other juicer, but it's light and
doesn't take up much room. I only use it for wheat-
grass and it's excellent at that, when it's working.
It is quite a hassle to pack something up, ship it
and wait for a return. Only to do it again, hopefully
not a third time.

I made key lime pie and with this juicer I was able to make the whole pie with the juice from just 1 and a half limes instead of 3! I was amazed!

This is a high quality kitchen implement made with heavy duty plastic. I was able to juice the limes with minimal pressure since the juicer's construction does most of the work.

I don't understand how the previous reviewer had a problem with this product. I was really impressed and thought it was an excellent way to spend . (Purchased it from a kitchen store, not Amazon.) I intend to put it to frequent use.

The plastic handles are a bit flabby, so I had to "choke up" on the handles, and then a weak part of the gear mechanism snapped. Avoid this.

The gear mechanism advertised to increase force is made of plastic. The second time I used this juicer the last tooth of the plastic gear broke. The first time I used it was on small limes, so the thinner skin probably didn't stress it as much. Such a high stress part really should have been made of something much stronger (perhaps stainless steel).

I got mine about a month ago and have been pleasantly surprised by it. Some of the comments on here like "good for folks new to juicing" don't completely stack up, and I don't mean that as against this juicer.

My thoughts:

1. Citrus: it does do it, but I would tell anyone to stick to a citrus juicer for citrus anyway, they really do work better.

2. Pulp: it was not so completely pulp free as some people made it sound in their reviews but it IS very LOW on pulp. I actually find that a good thing because my children often gag on too much pulp from the vegetable matter. It tickles their throats too much.

3. The one that really gets me in the reviews is "will upgrade to something that doesn't waste so much" because this is really a matter of what fruits and veggies you can get and for the cost. There are juicers our there like the VitaMix that pulverize everything into a liquid. Aside from sometimes making some pretty untasty products, there are other reasons not to consume all of the plant fiber. Many books on juicing point to research that much of the junk from herbicides and the like are stored in the fiber of the fruit or vegetable, so that if you are unable to get (or afford) 100% organic produce all the time then perhaps for your juicing you want to stick to something that WILL extract most of the fiber. For me, I have limited organic availability at my current job location, and even when I do I can't always afford it: so I buy organic for what I am going to eat in my salad and then use the other stuff for juicing. Sure, I would love to buy 100% organic but again, it isn't always possible. And that is not from a juicing "newbie" who just doesn't know any better.

The cleaning I found easy enough with the exception of the grinder/mesh section. My dishwasher alone couldnt handle getting the fiber out of it so I had to invest (a small price) in a plastic scrubbing brush to get most of the fiber out while it was still moist. Generally as long as you don't let it sit and dry out the clean up is easy enough. Certainly it cleans up easier than the Braun I used to have and it makes a more palatable juice than my super 0 juicer which doesn't extract pulp -- it does blueberries MUCH better than my includes-all-fiber juicer because the berries foam up too much in that one and produce a fairly unusable product. In my experience so far it has spun out the juice and left the foam in the basket.

its like a disposable juicer, because it after few uses starts creating lot of sound and strong vibrations that my neighbours won't let me use this. and when I try to contact krups, I get to know that I need to send them this product at my cost ( thats about 50% of the cost of product )and then they may decide whether they will repair for free or not. Other companies send you a free label at least. well. I felt initially that it was a good product, but the trouble is that its life is only few uses, now dont have any option but to throw it and buy some other one.

This is a well made juicer, it tears through carrots and beets without a great deal of effort. It's not too difficult to clean, although cleaning it out isn't fun either. The basket that strains the juice clogs and must be brushed clean. I have tried the following produce with great success: carrots, beets, ginger, celery, apples and spinach. That's all - because that's all I really enjoy making regularly. I cannot say the pulp is extremely dry, but I use some of that pulp for baking and some for making vegetable stock for my soups and some goes straight to composting my herbs - so I cannot complain.

I ordered this from Amazon for ~7.

It arrived with good packaging, before estimated time.

Machine looked beautiful, everything seemed there in the package-- was very excited to see such quality design (made in china, ofcourse). I set it up and plugged it in. LCD showed up just fine, turned the knob and it changed the display, all fine so far.

Powered it up to start the motor -- gusess what? IT DID NOT START !! Tried all possible fixes as described in the manual and online solutions -- nothing worked. I spent almost an hour searching what what I may be doing wrong. Nothing worked.

Called Breville on phone, went thru automated system, was kept on hold for almost 10 minutes, after which it asked for phone number and it told me that I am in the queue for a call from them. I waited about 4-5 hours. No calls. I decided to return the machine back to Amazon. This is done online and it provides option for an excahnge or full refund. I opted for full refund and it gave me a printable return label. I was at UPS dropoff at 5:30pm.

I was very disappointed. I wasted so much time and energy trying to find a solution. I would not buy anything remanufactured from Breville. Today is almost 3rd day after I left them my phone number -- there is no phone call from Breville. It is not professional. I think there should be an inquiry in to their practice.

I have decided to order another Breville ( I hope I am not proven stupid) -- this time it is new unit. Extra cost . Worth my time and headache. I hope it lasts me because 0 is not cheap. If it breaks after a year, I am screwed again. This is so true for everything we buy these days!! We are the becoming third world country. I have bought the exact same equipment from World Market. It is poorly made, does not extract as much juice as it should and it has many weak joints that loosen up if you apply force. It looks good when new and does nor rust. At least yet. If you will be doing a lot of juicing, I recommend on getting a different one. You will pay more, but it will be worth it.

I have owned two of these machines. I am not a large person, but the pressure I was able to exert to press out the orange juice simply overwhelmed the gears on this manual machine, even though the gears are metal; in both instances, the gear was stripped, the second time in well under a year. At a whack, you are better off with a cheap electronic juicer.

For the price, this unit appears to be a very solid appliance. The base is aluminum and the extractor filter holder and filter are stainless steel. However, after 3 weeks of use three times a day making carrot juice, the plastic fin at the bottom of the feed chute broke off. The next time I used the juicer the motor quit. I sent the unit to Sunpentown & am waiting for its return. The customer service seems to be good, as they told me that both the plastic cover and the motor were replaced. Nonetheless, I'm really disappointed that the unit only lasted three weeks before needing repair. They apparently have some design & quality control issues.

I wrote this letter to Healthmaster. I hope it is helpful to you concerning your purchase:
I purchased this blender in December of 2009 from Fingerhut. It began spewing some kind of substance (like thick black oil) out from the bottom of the pitcher. At the time it began I just wiped it clean, but now I am certain it was coming up into the food I was blending and eating. Then the motor also began making noises. I made some soup one day and the whole pitcher and blade came apart at the base and green soup was splattered all across my apartment.

Fingerhut refuses to help me. They told me to call you. I did, and you want .00 for shipping to send me a new base and pitcher. The cost to ship the entire unit when purchased new is .99.

I have since done some research, and many people have had the same experience with the base and pitcher spewing black and/or dark substances into their food. Just look at the website for QVC and others. You really need to find a solution.

There are also many complaints about the staff that you have. When you call and talk to them, they are not helpful at all. One of your people told me that the .00 charge was actually a favor because I could be charged for a whole new unit. Perhaps some basic definitions of what a warranty is and how it works could make a useful wall poster in your little work areas there. I won't even mention basic customer service skills, that might be an overload.

Clever marketing idea: Claim there is a 100% warranty on the unit and the when people call for help with the unit broken in pieces, tell the the warranty is .00 if you didn't purchase it directly. That should be a reall money maker for you considering the volume of people who have purchased this and watched it fall to peices. I sure hope you find a way to help me in the future when all that black gunk I injested begins manifesting a health hazard for me and countless others.

By June, the base connecting the blender container to the motor had rusted and emitted a burning smell. It was comepletly burnt out! Do not get this. I had it replaced twice - both times the motor died. You are better off using the "chop" function on a regular blender, followed by "liquefy". I had a HORRIBLE time dealing with the company .... long waits, took forever to get a refund, and they wouldn't refund post and handling.

My wonderful fiancee purchased this for me for Christmas a couple of years ago. Admittedly, I don't use it every day, so I can't say what a realistic shelf life this product has for heavy use; however, when I do use it, it's easy to clean, juices smoothly, and is all-round a great product. It is a bit noisy, but I've worked with other juicers which are just as noisy, if not more so. I never end up with huge chunks and the pulp leftover is dry and uniform.

We have now used the juicer long enough to get a good handle on its pluses and minuses. It works very well and is relatively easy to clean. We did over a bushel of apples one day and were very happy with the results. When doing large quantities of something ( like the apples) it must be cleaned out a little bit from time to time but this should be expected.I highly recommend it.

I bought this juicer after reading several reviews. Omega J8003 is my first masticating juicer. I love that I don't have to worry about the pulp mixed up with the juice. It juices almost all fruits and vegetables. However, time is the biggest problem. It works very slowly; unless it is given time to crash and juice the fruit/vegi, it will send the pulp with the juice. I didn't enjoy smooth and pulp free juice until I realized that it was supper slow in masticating each slice. Even though I read that one of the cons of this juicer is being slow, I didn't expect it to be that slow. Anyone who can stand next to the juicer and feed the narrow mouth with pieces of fruits/vegi one by one, this is an excellent addition for a healthy life. However, it is very hard to get a quick juice for breakfast unless it is juiced the previous evening. After realizing that the juicing process of this item is supper slow, I decided to juice every evening before I go to sleep and use the juice throughout the next day. It tests fresh; and very much better than the canned juices. As long as this juicer is used slowly, it will produce commercial standard juice of almost all fruits.

Pros:

* Works for almost all vegetables/fruits
* Extracts dry pulp in many fruits
* Cleaning is extremely easy
* Assembly is like snapping a finger
* It relatively is very quite
* Doesn't need much space
* Multifunction

Cons:

? A very small feeding mouth which mandates fruits and vegetables to be cut into small pieces
? Relatively slow that makes quick juice making hard
? Unrealistic functions combined together. I don't think combining grinder, pasta maker, and juicer is a good idea. I mainly use this machine for juicing, and I wish they could make the grinder & pasta maker optional with some price difference.
? It heats up faster. The manufacturer warns not to use this juicer for more than 30 minutes at a time. But it takes more than 30 minutes to get one pack (3lb) apple juiced. This is a serious problem considering the slowness of the juicer; the manufacturer should have thought about extending the time limit.
? Besides the 30 minutes time limit, cleaning in the middle of juicing may be needed when working on mushy fruits because the holes of the juice extractor may get clogged which makes juicing more slower and messy.

Overall this juicer is a very good product for a family of two regardless of the above mentioned flows. But it may be small and slow for a big family that wants to enjoy juice daily. If Omega can eliminate the unrealistic other functions and use the resource to enlarge the feeding mouth and strengthen the motor so it won't heats up faster, this will be an ideal juicer.

We used this juicer for 2 months. After one month the juicer began to vibrate and make weird noices that scared our kids and cat. Finally the blade is dead and we are ready to get rid of this machine. Machine looks very nice and I give it 2 stars for the look.

Good, but be careful.... - -
I have owned this juicer for over a year now and have had to change the blade twice. It does a good job most of the times, but when you start mixing soft and hard fruits and vegetables simultaneously and in a certain order, the unit will start vibrating to the point where the blade will make contact with the metal column where vegetables/fruits are introduced. The result: the maching will grind the blade and damage the performance of it. Try the following combination: apple, carrots, and grapes. Say bye bye to your blade.... (a value).

"I'd give it a three, or maybe a three and a half stars.

It needs to be redesigned so that one doesn't have to apply so much energy to squeeze. I can use just my fingers to squeeze a lemon or a lime, and get probably as much juice. But then I have to scoop out the seeds myself. This squeezer does keep the seeds inside, to be disposed of afterwards.

And I think that there should have been some instructions on which way to put in the lemon or the lime. Even just a picture would do.

Well, I wonder how one would design one that is easy to squeeze. Maybe with a longer handle. (But who would want such a big contraption in the kitchen?) Still, with lots of inventive minds out there, maybe some one can come up with something really innovative.

So, definitely a convenience. I'll be using mine in the future to squeeze lemons and limes."

I've had two juicers before this and used them extensively for five or six years. In fact, I wore them out with use. The Breville 800 is quite a step up from the JuiceMans I had. It juices very fine and leaves the pulp quite dry. Its powerful, quiet, very easy to clean and intuitive in every way. I juice mostly hard or leaf vegetables. Everything is easy for this juicer. And! I got it for, what I think is, a good price (0) at Amazon. I expect it to last for years and give superior juice.

This is my second juicer. My first was the centrifical type. The one is just soooo superior to the previous one. The unit has a solid, but not TOO heavy weight, and it does not take up a tremendous amount of counter space either. The parts are not that complicated after reading the manual and spending about 5 min. figuring it out. The parts are heavy-duty plastic -- not flimsy at all. The clean up is very fast as well, I think, compared to my old juicer.

You do have to cut some of the fruits and vegetables into chunks or slices to fit into the feeder; however, they feed very well, it only takes a few extra moments to cut them up, and the consistency is quite good, the pulp is very dry, and I only had to strain the juice with the supplied hand strainer for my daughter as I liked it just the way it comes out, myself. I made carrot bread one day with the pulp as well.

I puried a soft tomato that I normally would have had to throw out for tomato sauce in a recipe' with the blank insert that also comes with instead of the juicer insert, and I made a frozen banana blueberry desert that was very good! I found out that it will also chop up veggies for soups or salsa, and also has inserts that will extrude pasta. I'm excited to try that soon as well!

I've been very happy with the Omega. It stays out on my counter as a permanent fixture in the kitchen now as a constant reminder to use it each day. Here are some things to keep in mind when considering this vs. other juicers:

1) Masticating juicers are not meant for casual juicers. If you are going to juice only carrots on the weekend, this is not the juicer for you. You'll spend more and be satisfied with a <0 centrifugal juicer.

2) Cleanup is a breeze. It's actually easier than my old Juiceman.

3) Be prepared to cut things down to size. The chute is small so even carrots sometimes need te be cut up.

Overall, juicing takes about 5x longer with a masticating juicer. The benefits are: better juice, more juice, a quiet machine and the ability to juice greens.

This is the first juicer I've ever bought, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but regardless of that I do have an opinion about what I just bought.

The juice that comes out of this machine is awesome!

My fiancee especially loved taking to Fiji apples and drinking a glass of apple juice unlike anything you can find on the shelf of any supermarket. It tasted like you eating an apple but you were drinking it, and that is not what store bought apple juice tastes like.

I made a veggie concoction from carrots, celery, cucumber, tomato and lemon and was blown away by the flavor! I love V8, and it reminded me of that in particular, but it tasted heaps better and had zero salt (didn't need any either). V8s are loaded with salt, so it surprised me that it didn't need any while tasting better.

I envisioned using it as a way to drink a healthy breakfast or lunch as a meal replacement, but I don't think it will work out like that very long. It tastes good and is filling, but it wont satisfy your hunger for that long of a period of time. What I did and will continue to do is to drink my fruits for breakfast along with my SpiruTeen shake that I always have in the morning, and have a glass of veggies before meals. It is filling enough to allow me to less for lunch and/or dinner, so I will run with that for now. BTW I need to lose about 40 lbs, so I am hoping that this will do the trick. We'll about that though.

The operation is easy when juicing, but there is significant cleanup when you're done. Not difficult, just significant in that you'll have to clean every moving after you've used it. Took us about a minute or two is all. Not a big deal, but I just thought I mention it.

The machine is quiet, yields a surprising about of juice (especially with apples) and takes only 5 or so minutes to do it from cutting the produce to cleanup.

I would recommend to anyone who wants to juice for whatever reason, and am glad I bought this particular machine.

The juicer looks very pretty, however the quality is very poor. The top and bottom part aren't aligned properly. The screws are stripped. I can by hand squeeze an orange and get more juice. I am very disappointed. I asked for this for Christmas after seeing all the positive reviews.

I typically use our juicer once a week for my weekly orange juice fix & lime juice for drinks & cooking. Also, about four or five times a year (more?) we'll use it for cases of limes and oranges at a time for parties. My once a week fix is about 25 oranges and about 20 limes. I just checked my order history and we bought this in May 2007 - it's still going strong and still feels and looks new. It makes quick work of juicing a case of oranges or a case of limes (mmmm, margaritas!) and I've also used it regularly for grapefruit (see note below) and lemons.

There are a few downsides that have semi-remedies:

Hard limes. We have a lime tree and sometimes the fruit is quite hard. This can seemingly cause the machine to seize up (doesn't seem to hurt anything, just won't squeeze the juice). Our solution to this problem has been to roll the limes first to make them less hard.

Oval limes & lemons. If the cut citrus is more than half a round ball the juicer can't really handle it properly. Our solution to this is to use slices of the middle for garnish and then the fruit squeezes much more easily. Now we have pretty lime slices for margaritas or orange slices for other edible garnish.

Huge grapefruits. So while it works "okay", you do feel like you do feel like you're losing some juice on these. I haven't let this problem deter in my love for the machine. I simply wring the last bit of juice out by hand so that I don't feel like I'm wasting any.

Cleaning. Clean immediately and there will be no problems, but if you leave the pulp for a day (or night), it's not going to be so easy to clean. I put all of the parts into the dishwasher and have never had a problem.

Cabinet space. I used this at a friend's house and saw that low cabinets can interfere with the handle, but I use it on an open island and my cabinets at home have more space between cabinet and counter top so it's no problem for me. At my friend's, I simply moved it closer to the edge and was much more careful about placing a glass to catch the juice so that it wouldn't slide off.

Slippage. It does move around some on slick counters. I have that problem (not really a problem, in my humble opinion) with my new granite counter top, but I'm sure that I could put it on a mat and stop that problem if I really felt it were a problem. I do keep my eye on where it is.

Pulp. Sometimes if you're doing a lot of oranges or grapefruit that has a lot of pulp, you may need to empty out the basket. I don't see this as a problem, but I saw someone else comment about it. I do let the machine go extra revolutions for about 30-60 seconds to make sure I'm getting all the juice, but then I spoon out the seeds and pulp into the trash (or disposal to make the sink smell nice) before going another round. It comes with two pulp screens - one for low pulp and the other for higher pulp. Keep in mind that most of the nutrients are in the pulp. I love that you can change it because sometimes I use lime juice for a Thai soup and low pulp is better.

The ease of use, the ease of cleaning, and the results produced have made this a GREAT BUY! I'm not a fan of products that have only one use, but even if I only used this for squeezing oranges, I would still say that it is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have used many a hand squeezer or reamer and I still do on occasion for just one lime or whatever, but if you want fresh squeezed orange juice, this is definitely the way to go.

This is a great looking citrus juicer that is perfect for the home bar / counter. This juicer is fast and easy to operate. Although there is a bit of technique (turning / tilting) needed to get all the juice out of large citrus.

A great feature is the locking spout which allows you to pour off the juice without leakage on your counter! This was a hit at our last party where it saw heavy use juicing grapefruits for cocktails.

The "factory reconditioned" item we bought was missing the dust cover, but that issue is easily remidied by draping a bag over it while in storage.

This HB juicer was a replacement for an older one that was recalled. While I do not have some of the leaking problems described in other reviews, I find that this model is not nearly as useful as it might be. The pulp IS still very wet, and therefore you don't get all of the juice extracted. Moreover, much of the pulp remains packed around the cutter basket rather than being spun out into the pulp receptacle. This makes clean-up necessary more often than other juicers, and makes it difficult to grab the cutter basket when removing it for cleaning. Clearly, this low-powered, low-end juicer was made for occasional juicing of fruits, and not so much for a serious juicer who would be inclined to use it more often and with tougher vegetables.

First, let me say- if you're looking to become a juicer- don't get this model. If you're just looking for an occasional glass of juice- then go for it! I got mine on sale for . It's great for those pieces of fruit that are a little too ripe to eat raw. Insead of throwing away an apple with a little browning- throw it into the juicer. I too have gotten some leakage from the pulp bin- but it hasn't been horrible. I keep a paper towel handy. You don't get much juice either- but still for the price- I'd rather go cheap than buy the 0 model and rarely use it. The hardest part to clean is the metal strainer- I needed a toothbrush to even make a dent in the built up pulp. So all-in-all, is it worth pulling it out once or twice a month- sure! Everyday- forget it! You just don't get enough juice to bother with it all the time.

This is the first juicer I purchased ever, so when I found all the juice leaking out everywhere, all the fruit being wasted, and the iddy biddy amount of juice that I made after 2-3 hours of juicing, I thought that maybe all juicers sucked. But no, luckily, it's just this one, and yes, it DOES suck. badly.

I made about 2 glasses of juice from about 10 pounds of fruit. the juice from the juicer just happened to leak out and fall into the cup, the rest of the juice that should have went into the cup was leaking and oozing out of the top of the pul container. This was also very difficult to clean and terribly noisy.

This is a well made juicer, it tears through carrots and beets without a great deal of effort. It's not too difficult to clean, although cleaning it out isn't fun either. The basket that strains the juice clogs and must be brushed clean. I have tried the following produce with great success: carrots, beets, ginger, celery, apples and spinach. That's all - because that's all I really enjoy making regularly. I cannot say the pulp is extremely dry, but I use some of that pulp for baking and some for making vegetable stock for my soups and some goes straight to composting my herbs - so I cannot complain.

I really wanted to get one of those lever-type citrus presses you see in some high-end bars, as they seem to offer the best method of juicing large amounts of citrus. But I couldn't find one that was priced right (I found you've got to spend about 0 to get a good one). They're also pretty bulky.

So I settled for this electric juicer instead and I'm pretty satisfied with it so far. I've used it to juice a ton of limes and a few oranges as well and it works great for both. Seems to have a pretty good amount of power to the motor. It seems like a pretty well designed machine.

It's got a little recess around the base where you can wrap the cord during storage, which I thought was a nice feature (why don't all kitchen appliances have that?). It's got two different sizes of juicing cones, so you can change them out depending on if you're juicing big citrus or small. The cover and juicing cones all nest together, which is another nice feature that makes it much easier to store.

I would definitely buy again.

I'm so pleased I purchased this as my first juicer. It's proven to be very powerful, and juices everything I toss into it with ease. The pulp is nice and dry, and the clean-up isn't too bad. There are very few parts, so keeping track of those has also been easy. My only complaints? The noise - because it's so powerful, it can be quite loud. I do not juice early in the AM as a result. And sometimes, dependent upon what I'm juicing, it can get a little leaky (mostly when juicing water-rich fruits and veggies). Overall, an excellent value, and I've already gotten my money's worth!
